David F. Ross, PhD
David F. Ross, PhD., leads the team at Ross Trial Consulting (RTC). A Professor of Psychology at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, and former Department Head and Director of the Research Masters Program, Dr. Ross earned three degrees in Legal Psychology (including his PhD) from Cornell University. He has 30 years of experience conducting psychological research on jury behavior, courtroom dynamics, and the accuracy of eyewitness testimony. He has published extensively as an academician, including five scientific volumes that have sold and circulated world-wide. Dr. Ross has received research grants from the National Science Foundation and the National Institute of Justice. Dr. Ross has also collaborated with judges and published research conducted on actual jurors as well as authoring law review articles that were published by Duke, University of Tennessee, and University of Arizona.
Over the last 25 years Dr. Ross has worked extensively on a wide variety of complex litigation cases providing services that include mock trials, focus groups, change of venue studies, trial strategy, jury selection, and witness preparation. Dr. Ross also has experience presenting mock trial research at mediation proceedings. Dr. Ross specializes in providing assistance in designing and testing case theories, evaluating the value of a case, determining how jurors will think about a case, and how to use direct and indirect persuasion to win at trial. Dr. Ross has worked on nationally publicized cases and his clients have included billion dollar corporations.
Dr. Ross has given numerous invited presentations to trial lawyer associations throughout the United States, and he has given two presentations to the Tennessee Judicial Conference. Dr. Ross has also made numerous presentations at regional, national, and international meetings of scientists who study psychology and the law, including two presentations at NATO conventions held in Europe.
Finally, all the personnel at RTC are PhD level research psychologists who have years of experience in the field of trial consulting.
